A New Year, New Milestone

January 2012 has been a huge month in our lives - not only a new year but a lot of new milestones for our baby boy. This month he started crawling like a champ, is pulling up, trying to walk, and is now starting to make words - he's saying 'na na na', which is a big improvement on all the other sounds he's been making! I even am trying to teach him how to give Mama kisses! What a sweet boy! He's 8 months old now and we are all loving life with him!

Post Secret

Twenty Seven

Sometimes it's really hard to believe that I'm twenty seven years old now, a mother, a wife and unemployed (technically). I'm very excited for the year ahead of me, getting closer to my God, my husband and watching my son grow!! I don't have much more to say about it. I spent Sunday with my family and tonight I'm spending birthday time with my husband and son. I look forward to the lowkey celebration!

Hospitals & Babies

I wish I was more poetic a writer as some of my friends, but I do well enough to get my point across. This morning I read an article in the local paper about a nineteen year old girl who tried to steal a baby from the hospital. My first thought was, she was psycho. Then it dawned on my, there may have been a number of reason why she felt she had to try to steal a baby.

A recent article from WSB stated that the girl "admitted to buying scrubs at Walmart and pretending to work at the hospital. In her disguise, she went to the hospital and asked the mother if she was ready for the baby to be returned to the nursery...then took the child and put her in her purse. Hospital personnel struggled with her and got the purse and baby back." Apparently the girl told the police that she was desperate for a baby because she told her boyfriend it was born, when she had really miscarried previously to the event.

Posting this story to my facebook page brought up a lot of points about hospital security and baby "lo jacks" that the hospitals have installed over years past. I got a lot of comments about the Mom, the nurses and about this girl and her reasons for trying to steal this baby from it's mother just days after being born.

Personally, I had a baby seven and a half months ago. The nurses at the hospital (a different one from where this event occurred) told us about the bracelets that my son, myself and my husband were to wear while we were there. These bracelets were our tickets to see our son - it's the form of ID they would check on me and my husband each time they came into the room or when our son came back from the nursery. It seemed like a big deal to the nurses, and I soon found out why. They have baby alarms - any baby taken from the maternity recovery floor without a parent or nurse would set off alarms at all exits of the floor. They are so sensitive that a nurse can walk by pushing a baby in a bassinet and set it off by being too close, a nurse had told me that happened before.

Apparently, this nineteen year old girl was oblivious of these alarms and even the security cameras that were watching her. Staff quickly caught her and the baby was returned to the parents safely.

With all that being said, when I was recovering myself and a nurse came into the room that wasn't "MY" nurse (the one that came and introduced herself at the start of her shift), I always made sure they had the staff badge on, and my husband checked too. We were so worried that something would happen, even though we had no reason to really think so. I can't imagine how the parents of this baby felt.

I don't know how I would have reacted in the same situation, or what I would have done if someone had gotten away with my baby. I don't know why this woman thought she had the right to STEAL someone else's baby.. What I do know is that I'm glad the baby is safe and that the news is reporting that the hospital is doing all they can to prevent this from happening again. I pray for this nineteen year old girl and I hope that she can figure things our in her life. I hope she has learned her lesson.

Life Updates - Looking Back on 2011

My life changed A LOT this past year, mostly for the good and some small things for the bad. Most of all, the good outweighs the bad. Here is my thoughts on 2011.

  • I love Wesley, but I never thought I could love anyone else as much as I love him. Ryan now has a huge chuck of my heart and I don't know where I'd be right now with out him.
  • Adjusting from working full time to staying at home full time has been really hard for me. I'm more lonely now than I've ever been in my entire life. I don't see my family or friends as much as I'd like to. I spend all day with children under the age of three who just can't talk to me like a friend can.
  • We found a church that we both enjoy going to, that has proven already to be a good fit for us. I get so much out of attending on Sunday's and I can't wait for the new building to be ready so that I can get more involved. I'd love to be apart of the church in a more creative and constructive way. Helping with kids, planning events, singing, or something to serve my fellow followers of Christ.
  • I lost the only Grandfather that I have left. This was a huge event for my family seeing as how he was the core of us all for the most part. The holidays were really hard for all of us. I still have my times when I want to call and tell him about a book that I read. He's going to miss the 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' movie, and he was so looking forward to seeing it! He loved the book.
  • Friendships and have come and gone this year. I've seen the light when it comes to some of them and they just aren't worth the hurt anymore. Some new friendships have started and I hope they continue because I already love them all so much! (New years was a blast with some new friends, and I hope that time will only tell how much closer we can really become.)
  • Family has been a big part of this year - and babies!! My cousin is having twin girls and I can't wait to meet them.. and another cousin is pregnant as well! 2012 is going to be full of new birthdays for my friends and family. I've begun closer relationships with some family members and some of once again fallen to the wayside just because we don't talk. I don't mean any harm, but I'm just not going to try if they won't either.
A lot of things have changed in my life over the past year, some of them very hard to deal with and some of them were good for me. It's been an emotional year, but I hope that more good things are to come in 2012. I look forward to the future with my little family and I can't wait to see what 2012 holds for us.

7 Months!

Wow. I'm getting really slack on writing and posting! My baby boy is about seven and a half months old now and I'm almost twenty-seven years old! I can't believe I'm that close to thirty now! But it still feel so long away! (:

Dear Ryan,

Seven months old and you are already CRAWLING and PULLING UP! I just can't believe how fast you are growing up and developing! I think you are going to be walking before we have any teeth grow through! You have been miserable lately and I think part of it was your flu booster, but the rest I think is that your mouth hurts!

You are sleeping through the night again, over 9 hours at once with out really waking! You make the sweetest sounds and make the funniest faces!! You love cartoons (sometimes even just tv in general). You nap once a day usually and still get along well with Cullen!

Your first christmas and new years was the most fun ever! We spent a lot of time with family and new church friends. I can't wait to see you and Jeremiah really play together one day! You seemed to have had a great time, even though you didn't really understand what was going on this holiday season. I look forward to next year, thinking you will understand better all of what goes on.

Your first birthday is going to be approaching fast.... Momma has already considered themes and who to invite. It's going to be fun and I can't wait to see you get messy in cake! (:

I love you, Stink!

-Momma
