Movie Review: V for Vendetta

I don't really know why I never saw this movie before. It was released in 2006 and is an adaption of a comic book series of the same name. I have loved all the movies so far that have come from comic books - and this one was no different.

It took me a little while to really understand the plot and what was going on with V and Evey and how their relationship was developing. I also wasn't quite sure about the plot of the story being that it's set in 'the near future' but a future that I could not personally conceive. But by the end of the movie, I found myself on the same side as 'the bad guy' and I was pushing for Evey to send the train to blow up Parliament.

It was a very touching story about how V helped Evey reach a point in her life where she was no longer scared, her fear was surpassed and she was able to have a more open mind to what was going on around her and what V was trying to change.

My favorite quote from the movie was V's introduction monologue to Evey in the alley:

VoilĂ ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox poouli, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.
I loved Hugo Weaving as V and I have a true love for Natalie Portman as an actress after seeing this movie. She has some true talent and she never ceases to amaze me. I will forever watch every movie she has/will star in. She has yet to truly disappoint me! All in all, I give this movie two thumbs up and recommend it to anyone over the age of 17/18 and can understand the harshness of the plot against British Parliament.
